The first screenshot featured consists of a close up of the main immigration officer, the typical ‘Bad guy’ in the clip who has come to search the hotel for any unwanted characters, this zoom on the officers face creates an eerie feeling, and lets the audience straight away realise who the bad guy is.Shortly after the officer is seen to be glanced at in a very short fast cut by a black man, this not only represents the ethnicities in the clip but foreshadows that something bad is going to happen, and it will be to another race, the fast paced cuts at the start of the clips begins to build up tension making the clip eventually climax, also the short glance shown brings fear to many of the hotel visitors as its not the first time the immigration has come. The receptionist then greets the officer and feels intimidated by his presence, the officers dark clothes against the receptionist shows This dramatic zoom show the stereotypical police officer walk in with a smug look on his face, at the same time a tense fastt paced music is playing portraying to the audience that something bad will happen. He is the typically quite threatening and she is in all white showing her innocence and honesty, she then looks at her colleague and sets of the code by saying to him ‘can you take the purple acquisition forms down to reception please’ but secretly meaning go hide the immigrants this is where the clip builds up a fast pace and the officer soon realises theres only a small amount of time before all the immigrants will be hidden. The colleague then runs downstairs to warn the immigrants that the immigration service is here, causing yet more tension and for the fast build up of the clip to get more dramatic, the clip then shows a series of shots of the immigrants through bars therefore fore-Representing what could be and that they could all eventually be behind bars after this incident, also the cut above shows a split in the screen white from black yet again stereotyping black people to being bad and the immoral as immigrants are seen as a wrong in our society when in fact they can be very smart, caring and interesting and aspire to be similar to us but the division in society will never let this happen. Not only do the bars convey the prison, but also portrays the imprisonment of the immigrants in the hotel as they can’t escape the fact they are a immigrant, also the repetition of the bar cuts show the situation can happen over and over until they all eventually are locked The shot above features the repetitive shots of the keys and door handles, yet again showing the whole imprisonment also the editing and repetition also shows how the situation has happened before and they are all in a routine of hiding and locking themselves up, showing there disruptive and inhuman lifestyle of constantly living on the edge. Also this mise en scene of the camera angle and the dark shot makes the whole clip seem eerie and extremely intense as at any moment they could find where they are hiding, the music around this shot slows down and becomes very quiet creating a worrying atmosphere, just to trigger off the diabetic fit one of the lady’s have but fortunately one of the men happened to be a Doctor and save the woman which shocks the audience as i said immigrants are seen as being lower class and not as smart. The clip then moves on to where the officers catch one immigrants off guard and arrest him and make their way back out of the hotel where the ‘bad guy’ then bumps back in to the receptionist, and states ‘i know your codes, this time you lost the game’ therefore portraying his bad side to the audience and his lack of care to the people, who will be effected by the arrest, and what will then happen to the immigrant after he has been deported. Shortly after a very slow emotional clip was filmed of the Chinese colleague unlocking and emptying the locker that belonged to the immigrant.
